Floridians think of hurricanes, not hail. But Polk County takes automotive hail about every two years, and the outlying counties get hit more often. Kissimmee and Poinciana were hammered in 2017. Orlando and Daytona took hits in 2018. Cocoa Beach got it in 2019. When it happens, thousands of vehicles collect thousands of dents in a single afternoon, and the phone calls start before the ice melts.
The first 48 hours matter. Photograph your vehicle before anything is touched: hood, roof, trunk, and both sides, in open shade if you can. Do not accept a repair from anyone who knocks on your door, and do not sign anything that assigns your insurance benefits to a company you met an hour ago.
